The Worth Valley Railway, opened in 1867 to serve local mills, faced closure in the 1960s due to declining industrial use. However, passionate locals formed a preservation society and reopened it in 1968, marking the first instance of British Rail privatization. The railway gained fame as the filming location for the 1970 film 'The Railway Children' and its sequel.

We then journeyed back to Keighley, noting its connection to the national rail network and 1950s ambiance. The return to Howarth concluded our nostalgic trip. The railway boasts restored stations and a collection of historic steam locomotives, offering a delightful step back in time and a testament to community dedication.
